Notice of Township of Alnwick/ Haldimand, Alderville First Nations, and Northumberland County Emergency Management Training Exercise

On September 25, 2018, the Township of Alnwick/ Haldimand, Alderville First Nations, and the Corporation of Northumberland County will be conducting a full field mock emergency management training exercise. The exercise will take place at multiple locations including selected sites within the Northumberland County Forest. If you are interested in participating in the exercise, Northumberland County is seeking a number of volunteers to play the role of hikers and nearby residents of the Forest, who will be evacuated from the Forest to an emergency Reception Centre located at the Alderville First Nation Community Centre.

 

Participants will need to be prepared for the activities of the day:

  • Tentative time commitment from 7.30 am to 1.30
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
  • Transportation will be provided from the Forest location to the reception centre and back
  • Dress for the weather. Some activities will be outdoors, rain or shine.
  • Participants portraying evacuees will be given a small script profile to be portrayed as real as possible.
  • No one will be required to complete a role they are not comfortable with.
  • Photographs will be taken during the event.
  • Waivers of liability and photography will be required to be signed.
  • Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

If you are a Northumberland County employee, your participation will comply with respective collective agreements and the Compressed Hours Program Policy. Your supervisor must grant permission to participate.

 

We welcome Non-County Employees to participate as well. Non-County employees will not be paid for their assistance.
