Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Update

Posted on Monday June 04, 2018

Cobourg, ON – June 4, 2018 – Curbside collection of leaf and yard waste is ongoing this week as crews continue to address unprecedented volume, which has resulted in a delay in collection for some residents.

“We do apologize for the inconvenience residents may be experiencing with delayed collection, and sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to get everything collected as quickly as possible,” indicated Director of Transportation, Waste & Facilities Mo Pannu. “We are seeing triple the tonnage over this time last year, which we attribute partially to April's ice storm and then the recent wind event. Additional crews and shifts have been added to the routes to deal with this volume, and collection teams are working hard to get everything removed from curbside.”

Residents are advised to please continue leaving materials at the curb if they have not yet been collected. Crews are making their way to all households, with the aim of getting back on schedule by the end of next week.

For all other questions regarding waste and recycling collection, residents are invited to contact the County’s Waste & Recycling Hotline at 1-866-293-8379 or visit our website at www.NorthumberlandCounty.ca/RecyclingWaste.
